Tony Eury Sr. has resigned from DEI and has been named director of competition at JR Motorsports. Eury Senior was crew chief for Dale Earnhardt Jr. early in the his career, and began this season as crew chief for the 15 of Paul Menard, but left that post in early June, taking a role with DEI’s research and development team.
JR Motorsports is owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and run by his sister, Kelley Elledge. It runs a team in the NASCAR Busch Series and other teams in the Hooters Pro Cup and some other developmental racing series. Tony Eury Senior is the father of Tony Eury Junior., the crew chief for Earnahrdt Jr. on the 8 team at DEI.
Earnhardt Jr. will leave that team at season’s end to drive for Hendrick Motorsports, and has said he would like to continue working with Eury Jr, so the whole world is waiting for the next announcement, re-uniting Eury Jr and Earnhardt Jr at Hendrick motorsport next year.
