What many expected for a long time was confirmed on Friday morning; Sebastien Bourdais will join the Formula 1 series in 2008 as an official race driver for Scuderia Toro Rosso. The reigning Champ Car champion will race alongside Sebastian Vettel at the Italian team.
The Scuderia Toro Rosso team will have an all-new line-up in 2008. After only a few races it already became clear both drivers and the team weren’t happy with each other. Scott Speed was replaced by Sebastian Vettel already at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Liuzzi will be replaced next season by 28-year-old Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais.
“It has been a long time coming, but here we are!” said Bourdais. “I would like to thank everyone at Red Bull for believing in me and giving me this long-awaited opportunity to race in Formula 1. I must also thank Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing for letting me pursue my dream and allowing me to test for Scuderia Toro Rosso a few times this year.”
