Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme The Golden Age of Racing

A 45 minute documentary following the lives of New Zealands two greatest motor racing drivers Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme. The video features interviews with Sir Jack Brabham, and Denny himself tells the story of how he worked for Jack as a mechanic, and how he finally got the chance to drive.

Also some good footage with Bruce himself describing the birth of the LeMans GT40 project, which was originally known as the Cooper Odlsmobile in order to protect Bruce’s contract with Cooper in Formula One at the time.

Denny is followed through his championship season of 1967 as he fought with his mentor, boss and teammate Jack Brabham for the championship, and describes the split in the team that it caused. Jack Brabham also gives his side of it as well, and Denny also explains his decision to leave Brabham for the 1968 season.

The Can-AM series in America is also covered, going through the years where it really became the “Bruce and Denny Show” through 1967, 1968 and 1969.
