No More Bud for Junior

It was confirmed from Chicago this weekend that Dale Earnhardt Jr and Budweiser will part company at the end of the year. Rick Hendrick announced that all current Hendrick sponsors would be returning next year, leaving no room for Bud in the Hendrick stable for 2008.

Dale Jr has a personal services contract with Budweiser that runs through 2008, but he has confirmed that this contract will now end at the end of this year, and that he will not continue with Bud in any way next year.

It is still strongly rumored that the sponsor next year for Junior is Pepsi Co, with one of their brands, rumored to be Mountain Dew. Dale Jr is not prepared to give any clues as to the identity, however he did say that he is involved in the approval process for the livery and merchandise, and said that he is looking at everything, as he wants to feel as comfortable with his new sponsor as he has done with Budweiser.

Of course this means that come next year it’s all new colors for Dale Jr fans, often referred to as the “Red Army”. What this change means for his fans, we will not know until later in the year when all is revealed. Also it will be interesting to see if the new sponsorship affords Junior as big of a profile that he has enjoyed over the last few years, with many commercials and product endorsements. All will be revealed soon.

In the mean time, below are some of the Junior commercials for you to savor.
